El Laberinto del Coco is a dynamic and vibrant Bomba Fusion band hailing from Puerto Rico. Combining traditional Afro-Puerto Rican rhythms with contemporary musical elements, they have become a prominent force in the global music scene. With their electrifying performances and innovative approach, El Laberinto del Coco has captivated audiences worldwide.

Formed in 2017, El Laberinto del Coco comprises a group of highly skilled musicians and percussionists deeply rooted in Afro-Puerto Rican culture. El Laberinto del Coco, which translates to "The Labyrinth of the Mind," reflects their mission to explore and push the boundaries of traditional Bomba music while staying true to its essence.

Led by the visionary musical director Hector "Coco" Barez, El Laberinto del Coco incorporates a diverse range of traditional instruments such as barriles, cuá, and maraca, creating a rich and intoxicating sonic tapestry. Their fusion style seamlessly integrates elements of jazz, funk, reggae, and Latin rhythms, resulting in a unique and infectious sound that appeals to a wide audience.

El Laberinto del Coco has had the honor of performing on some of the most prestigious stages both in Puerto Rico and the United States. They have captivated audiences at the Kennedy Center Millennium Stage in Washington DC, Global Fest at Lincoln Center, Drom NYC, The Barnes Foundation in Philadelphia, DC Afro Latino Fest at Malcolm X Park, Iowa Latino Heritage Festival, SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, Taller Puertorriqueño in Philadelphia, Centro Cultural Segundo Ruiz Belvis in Chicago, Summer Concert Series at Millennium Park in Chicago, Virtual Concert at the University of Richmond, San Sebastián Street Festivities, Museum of Contemporary Art of Puerto Rico, Claridad Festival, El Boricua in Río Piedras, La Respuesta in Santurce, and El Bastión in Old San Juan, among others.

During their visit to the University of Maryland, El Laberinto del Coco achieved a significant milestone by being invited to participate in the Tiny Desk Concert Series. Their performance was recorded on February 1st and will be aired on NPR's YouTube Channel on April 5, 2024, exposing the band's musical proposal to a global audience. This exposure guarantees an expansion of the band's reach, which will positively impact venues and festivals where El Laberinto del Coco brings their bomba fusion style.
