Sandra Lilia Velásquez is a Mexican American musician and entrepreneur based in Brooklyn, New York. The multi-instrumentalist is known for her socially conscious and educational bilingual lyrics and Latin rhythms across her three musical projects: Pistolera, Moona Luna, and SLV.

Originally from the border town of San Diego, CA, and raised by Mexican immigrant activists, Velásquez has dedicated her musical expression to uplifting and empowering the Latinx community in the face of persistent racism and inequality. Her lyrics have reflected the ongoing struggles and hard-won triumphs of women and immigrants for more than 15 years.

In 2020 she continued her mission of culture celebration by launching Nopalera, a Mexican Botanical Bath & Body line. The brand quickly took off and landed in over 100+ retailers nationwide with a rapidly growing customer base.

Velásquez also works as a sales coach for CPG brands and teaches an online class to help food and beverage founders get onto store shelves and into distribution.

What inspires you?

I am inspired by the endless possibilities of life. I have a strong gratitude practice and every day I give thanks for the endless opportunities and for my abilities to make things happen. I love to be in nature. I truly think being alive on earth is magical and I want to make an impact with my time here.

What does community mean to you?

Community means helping and supporting those around you. When we give, we receive.
