Tell us about you and your work

DJ Jigüe is an entity that came to planet earth from an unknown planet; it is an entity that appropriates the human body to be able to exchange and coexist on this planet. For many years it has been nourished by culture, idiosyncrasies, ways of life, by the experiences that it has been finding. What we know so far is that he came to the island of Cuba, living in a child, who came from a corner of Africa on a ship that transported slaves to the island of Cuba.

DJ Jigüe uses music as a means of communication, of connection with people, creating a musical language called Tropical Afrofuturism. And that musical language has to do with an incessant search for the past, with the millennial history of the creation of life. This musical language is also manifested from traditional, folk, ancestral music, but with a vision of the future, that is, a trip to the past to go towards the future. And this is precisely what can be seen in DJ Jigüe's most recent release, a 6-track Ep called Ekelekua, available on all digital platforms; where once again, you can feel a message of love, of unity, of light, through music.

What inspires you?

DJ jigüe is inspired by everything he knows on that journey, which has begun since he arrived on planet earth. Nature, people, the arts in general, not only music but also the arts as a means of expression that is reflected through different manifestations and that has accompanied human existence since the beginning of its creation. Music especially.

What does community mean to you?

It is a life system established from individuality, where those individualities come together at different points in common and create the collectivity to advance in various related objectives. The community is power, it is strength, because when different energies are united, different atoms in movements that manage to collide in tune and in harmony, a magnetic field of great power is created, of great vibration, capable of transforming the medium, the environment, in the material and spiritual sense; that's community.
