22 Studio
Tell us about you and your work
22 studio is a transdisciplinary design practice co-founded and co-directed by Marién Vélez and Nasheli Ortiz. Our intention is to tackle relevant problems in communities and cities through design processes. We work with architectural, scenic and social lighting design; fashion design, stage design and public art.
What inspires you?
22 is inspired by people, the transformative impact of design and the compromise with societal contexts. We have seen places and dynamics change after the application of design and we believe change is the force of life.
What does community mean to you?
A sense of belonging: a set of norms, rituals and concepts that help give meaning to a group of people. Community implies also a connection with the immediate environment, an awareness of place, a relationship with natural cycles and phenomena.
