On May 22, 2019, the series kicks off with the Philadelphia debut of Alfonsina, the Uruguayan singer/multi instrumentalist. After touring and collaborating with legendary experimental hiphop producer/artist Tricky, she went on a 3-year streak of winning multiple Graffiti awards (Uruguay’s “GRAMMYs”), including Best New Artist in 2015. In preparation for her new project, she’ll be performing an intimate set of her chart-toppers and unheard, new material.
The event will also host an Official Listening Party for the soon-to-be-released sophomore album 'Morir Soñando' from Josue Lora + Nota G. The artists - formerly known as Agudos Clef - drew attention with their debut LP, Teoria, with the lead single, “Raices”. The song & video were loved for being a rich, humble musical & visual tribute to the act’s roots & their first homeland: The Dominican Republic.
The new album will be released Spring/Summer 2019, and feature artists like Acentoh and Calma Carmona, with productions by Grammy winning producer Ivan Barias (Justin Timberlake, Rick Ross, Musiq Soulchild, etc), and Philly jazzpunk keys-n-drum duo Trap Rabbit. More on this lineup to come.
Event starts at 8PM. Suggested donation is $8.00. Refreshments too.
Location is The Maas Building - 1325 N. Randolph Street, Philadelphia PA #afrotaino2019
