  • Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts 300 South Broad Street Philadelphia, PA, 19107 United States (map)

On Saturday October 29th, the Manchester sound of Morrissey will fill the Kimmel Center's Perelman Theater - but with a twist. Mexrissey is the brainchild sideshow of super-producer Camilo Lara, who heads up the genre-tweaking Mexican Institute of Sound. No Manchester is the first album from Camilo Lara’s Spanish-language, Mariachi-accented Morrissey cover project, delivers the goods on revamping the Brit's classics such as "How Soon is Now“, and fittingly, “Mexico.” Not to be confused with another LA-based Chicano-driven Morrissey cover band, Mariachi Manchester, Lara's project features singer (and former Julieta Venegas background singer) Ceci Bastida, a full rock band, and Lara's quirky beat machines. Although the free concert is close to full capacity, there is a standby line for those who want to roll the dice. Press your luck, it will be worth the prize! Go to for show info.
