On February 5th, De Jesus will be releasing his latest album (and his 1st 100% Spanish language full-length) entitled, “La Dolorosa”. The LP centers around existential spiritual themes, including Afro-Caribbean mysticism, and the Holy Madonnas of the Americas. Intense & expansive lyrics swim and swirl in between digital beats, while painted with eerily-structured classical string arrangement create a mysterious, emotional effect. And then there’s his voice: his bold, powerful vocals soar & hypnotize listeners. Having once served as 2nd cello for (now defunct) alt-Victorian band RASPUTINA, De Jesus has toured extensively throughout Europe and has shared the stage with various acts like K.D. Lang, Jesse & Joy, and others. His music has been compared to the likes of Tori Amos, Bjork, and David Bowie.
The video for the album’s lead single, “Lagrimas de Sangre”, premieres worldwide exclusively via AfroTaino.com on Feb. 5th.
