AfroTaino Productions emerged in 2005 as a result of their partners combined expertise, passion for global arts & culture and commitment to serve as agents of change. AfroTaino brings over 40 years of combined experience in event planning/execution, audience development, promotions/marketing and special events/campaigns in the public and private arena targeting multicultural audiences.
Throughout the past six years they have joined forces with resources like the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, International House and Media Bureau Network Studios to execute arts programming. They have also collaborated with international artists such Monareta, Bomba Estereo (Colombia), Los Amigos Invisibles (Venezuela), Mala Rodriguez, Gipsy Kings (Spain), Ravi & Anoushka Shankar, Kailash Kher (India), DJ Leydis, Cucu Diamantes (Cuba), Andy Montanez, Calle 13, El Gran Combo (Puerto Rico), Sarazino (Algeria), Luisa Maita (Brazil), among many others. Their Perspectivas Film Series highlights cinema that captures the blend of Caribbean and Urban sounds that comprise the legacy of the Afro-Latino diaspora. They are also partners of Braziladelphia, a platform for Brazilian arts & culture in the Greater Philadelphia area.
AfroTaino has also worked with organizations such as NARAS, Taller Puertorriqueño, Semilla Arts Initiative, the Hispanic Bar Association and the Greater Philadelphia Film Office among others. Earlier this year, they co produced ‘Do I Look Illegal?’ with EKG Films in response to Arizona’s SB 1070, which became the Official PSA of NCLR’s Boycott Intolerance campaign.
